Gandhi Gruh Gujarati School

The Auckland Indian Association operates a school on Sundays which enables second, third and later generations to learn about their family culture and language.

The school runs for 2.5 hours each Sunday from 10 am to 1230 pm.

The day begins with Prathna, reciting of Sanskrit verses and the blessings of the Gods in the Radha Krishna Mandir before going to classes to learn Gujarati language and culture.

Each year, the children get to go on a School Trip. This is a fun family affair and some of the places visited include Maraetai Regional Park, Crystal Mountain, YMCA Outdoors, Nihotapu Dam.

Gandhi Jayanti is also celebrated with pride and passion and gives the children a great opportunity to participate.

Children also learn about and participate in the Independence Day and Diwali functions among other festivities.

Healthy Eating and Healthy Activities coordinator, Ila Kumar has conducted short fitness classes at the School to encourage the children to be active.

It is encouraged for children to start at school age but all are welcome and if this is of interest you could see the enrolment form below or contact Gandhi Gruh Gujarati School Chairperson:
